Located near the coastal region of South Carolina, Williamsburg County School District is composed of 934 square miles, making it the seventh largest county in the South Carolina inland area. The school district serves more than 7,000 students, with over 1,000 persons employed by the school district. The school district has 9 elementary schools, 1 junior high school, 3 high schools, and 1 vocational training center.

In order to meet the various needs of the students in the county, the district provides programs which consist of the traditional kindergarten through twelfth grade, child development, gifted and talented, special education, adult education, Occupational Education, JROTC, Tech Prep, computer technology, and robotics. Services for students include health, foodservices, transportation, counseling, psychological, speech, hearing, and homebound.

Williamsburg Academy is an independent school located in Kingstree. The school offers a wide range of opportunities with academics as well as athletics within a safe environment. AP courses and dual credits with Williamsburg Technical College help prepare college bound students. The Lower School Curriculum (K-5) is enriched with the Accelerated Reader Program, Spanish, Music, PE, Computer, and Library. After school day care is available for a nominal fee.

Williamsburg Technical College is a public, two year, associate, diploma, and certificate granting institution. The College became fully accredited in December 1977 by the Commission on Colleges of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. With the approval of the SC State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education. · Take current registration card, title or bill of sale to Auditors Office in the Williamsburg County Court House, 843-355-9321, ext.543. Ask about high mileage discount.

· Pay county vehicle taxes to Treasurer in the Williamsburg County Court House, 843-355-9321, ext. 546.

· Take proof of insurance which includes name, date, and policy number, receipt from Treasurer, registration card, title or bill of sale, and odometer reading to SC Highway Department located at 1005 Eastland Avenue.

· Pay state sales tax on new purchases at SC Highway Department 843-354-9217.

You must obtain SC license plates within 45 days and drivers license within 90 days after moving into the state. Apply at the SC Highway Department, 1005 Eastland Avenue 843-354-9217. Anyone applying for a license for the first time must present a birth certificate and Social Security card.

Legal Residence and Homestead Exemption:

File for legal residence or change of address at the Tax Assessor's Office in the Williamsburg County Courthouse, call 843-355-9132,  Ext. 116.

Voter Registration:

Voter registration must be completed at least 30 days prior to an election. Positive proof of residence is needed. Register at 5 Courthouse Square 843-355-6044.
